the voice of truth says "do not be afraid!"
and the voice of truth says "this is for my glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth
- casting crowns
Peter was with Jesus, and Jesus asked, "Who am I?"
Peter spoke out of the Spirit within him. "You are the Christ, the Son of God" (Matt 16:16).
Later - Satan (Matt 16:22).
How did this happen?
How does this happen?
We - as those within whom the Spirit dwells - ought only to be speaking from the voice of truth. Yet, sometimes, we speak from the voice of lies, thoughts and words that stem from Satan, the Father of Lies, rather from God Who is Truth.
This should not be, yet it is.
We are redeemed souls that are yet living in carnal flesh. There is a constant battle being waged in us, between the light and the darkness, lies and the truth. In the end, the Truth will win, but until then we still lose battles. Sometimes it so easy to lose sight of that, to forget that in the end it will all be made right and, in true fairy tale fashion, all the redeemed will live "happily ever after". It is so easy to forget because we are living in the uneasy, sometimes pain-filled, here-and-now.
But our Bridegroom is coming.
Until then we are called to wait for Him, to be ready, and not lose heart.
